Master goal

The MDA aims at the professional development in the fields of Data Analytics, giving a completion to the knowledge acquired in a university degree. Moreover, MDA aims to keep you up to date on current trends on the application of ML & DL techniques to Data Analytics, as well as to help you develop new skills for the purpose of advancement in these fields. The MDA’s program encompasses the fundamental mathematical tools and specific software used to analyze data and extract insight from them; moreover, it tackles actual problems with the analysis of selected case studies.

The MDA is addressed to students with strong quantitative skills and a solid background in STEM, Statistics and Economics disciplines.

Master progress

The MDA has a one-year program, starting on February 2024 and finishing on February 2025. The MDA yields 60 ECTS through lectures, exercises, seminars, and final project. Lectures and exercises amount to 53 ECTS, corresponding to 322 hours of lectures. All lectures will be online, with the chance of attending both in streaming or in playback; lectures will be in Italian or English.

A modular approach

Our courses are organized in four groups: the first one encompasses the fundamentals tools for data analytics, while the remaining three groups deal with specific specializations:

  1. Fundamentals – Intro to Python; Python; Languages for scalable data; Database; Basic Statistics; Intro to Machine Learning; Intro to Cryptography; Text analytics & Natural Language Processing.
  2. Machine Learning – TensorFlow; Neural Networks with Matlab; Statistics and Optimization for Machine Learning; Machine Learning; Meta Learning.
  3. CyberSecurity – Cryptography; Cryptography: case studies; Fintech and intro to Cryptocurrency; Cybersecurity and privacy management.
  4. Science & Society – Social data analytics; Graph algorithms; Python advanced; Cloud Computing; Data processing; Biotech data processing; Public services; Digitalization for PA; Data analysis ofr business intelligence.

Students can arrange a personal Study Plan according to the following rules:

  • Fundamental courses are mandatory for every student, for a total of 20 ECTS
  • Stage and thesis are mandatory for every student, for a total of 15 ECTS

The remaining CFU must be acquired by selecting other courses, totaling a minimum of 25 ECTS.

To help students in selecting an appropriate Study Plan, we give three proposals:

  • DA for Machine Learning: Machine Learning (14 ECTS) + 11 ECTS free choice.
  • DA for CyberSecurity: CyberSecurity (10 ECTS) + 15 ECTS free choice.
  • DA for Science & Society: Social Data analytics (14 ECTS) + 11 ECTS free choice.

Upon successful completion of the whole program, students are granted 60 ECTS credits.

Students will acquire in-depth understanding of the field through a rigorous and challenging program covering the fundamentals of Machine Learning, analysis of Social Data and Business Intelligence, the digitalization of Public Services and Data Security. This will prepare students for successful professional careers.

Graduates from any Course Degree in Mathematics or Physics from Roma Tre University will benefit of a 60% reduction in tuition fees. Students can also choose to enroll to single specializations or to single courses, and will receive a certificate of attendance after successful completion of their program. The Scientific Committee can advise the prospective students about personalized programs.
